SCHEDULES/SCHEDULE CHANGES--After Friday, August 8th
- We will be able to change schedules on Monday and Tuesday,
August 11-12th from 8:00 to 3:30 p.m. Note: If you miss the
dates for back-to-school, senior photos for
off-campus photos will not be taken until the first week of school, and then
only during the lunch hour. You may call the counseling offices if you
need further information about seniors, call Ms. Ann Karraker @
751-8019. If you are a junior, call Ms. Craig. Sophomores and
Freshmen counselors have not yet been determined, but the phone number will
be 751-8017.
- Students will not be allowed to sit in the
counseling office without an appointment. Those who do not have a class
are to report to the small gym until their schedules are changed. There
are not that many. Please call and make an appointment or sign up
during your lunch, or before or after school. If you miss
your appointment because you are not in the class you are scheduled in, the
counselor will skip over your name to the next available student. We
must be able to locate you even if your schedule might be changing.
- NOTE: Schedule changes are only allowed in certain circumstances:
- Successful completion of a summer school course.
- Teacher-initiated level change (i.e. AP Chemistry to regular
Chemistry or English 1 regular to English 9 Honors).
- Computer error
- Failed course from last year
- Open period--no class on your schedule -- There's a gap.
- A class was cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.
- Electives may be changed if a new class is scheduled the same
period. Yearlong class changes may be made only if both the

each class (Each teacher may want their own binder)
-
Graph paper--Quad ruled--1/4" for
math classes
-

-
Colored pencils

-
Calculator--TI-30X
IIS for any
classes below Algebra 1 or Geometry and a graphing calculator (TI-84/TI-83-Texas

be using it towards the end of the school year. ACT and SAT exams allow
the use of a calculator and many students who do not have one or know how to
use one are at a disadvantage. Parents are reminded that the graphing
calculator will be used throughout high school and any courses in college.
It is expensive, but something your student will use daily.
REMINDERS:
Students are reminded that Taos High
School does have a dress code. Please look at your child before they walk
out the door. We are collecting t-shirts and sweat pants for students who
cannot follow the dress code to wear at school. If you would like to
contribute a t-shirt(s) or old sweats, please drop them off at the main lobby
office.
Students who need to change their
schedule must sign up for an appointment during the first week of school.
Go to the classes you have been assigned until your schedule is changed.
Under no circumstances, should a student be waiting in the counseling office to
change a schedule unless that student is not enrolled in school and must be
enrolled with a parent at the school site. If you miss your appointment with the counselor
because you were not in the class you were supposed to be in, and therefore
could not be found, you must reschedule. All students who do not have a
class report to the small gym.
