Activities

Junior Senate meets on Wednesdays during Study Hall.

During the meetings, we discuss activities, homecoming, and of course, fundraising.

The goals of fundraising are as follows:

  • To raise beginning capital in order that the Junior Class of 2009 has some cash reserves in order to purchase items related to other fundraisers i.e. t-shirts, bumper stickers, items for the school, and other purchases deemed necessary by the freshman class.
  • To raise money for homecoming (there are two more that we participate in)
  • Ultimately the biggest fundraising challenge we have is Prom 2008 which is the primary responsibility of the Junior class.
  • Graduation 2009
  • Class Night 2009
  • Class of 2009 Gift to Taos High School
  • Any items related to raising class spirit and school spirit in general
  • Citizenship projects as they come along

On August 4--Saturday--we are planning a car wash/BBQ/bake sale @ the northside Centinel Bank location.  Every sophomore who can bring some baked goods, hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, chili, fritos, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese is welcome to participate.

We are participating in homecoming which means building a float. We generally build our floats at the Taos Agriculture Center on the southside of town.

If you are a parent of a junior this year, please contact Mrs. Spitz or Mrs. Romero if you would like your child or yourself to volunteer or participate in Junior Senate activities @ patspitz@taosschools.org or 751-8025.  This is the activity office and Alice's office.
