The Taos Middle School History Department hosted it's 5th Annual Veteran's Day event on November 9th, 2018. At the heart of the event were various projects put on display that convey our students' gratitude for all who have served our great country. The students added 30 new veteran photos and biographies to the "Veteran Wall" Exhibit. We had a "Missing Man" table and poem in honor of those who never returned from war created by our AVID college readiness elective class. We also had decorations provided by Ms Graham's Student Government students. Students performed an American Sign Language rendition of  "Proud to be an American," TAPS was played by band teacher, Joaquin Manuel, our National Anthem was performed by a choir student, and a set list of songs were performed by the Taos Middle School choir under the direction of Mr. Manuel, and a celebratory finale performance by Mariachi Tigritos under the direction of Juan Archuleta. An amazing breakfast was provided by Mrs. Alicia Thoma's Food Science II class.

Dear Taos Middle School Families,

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year. I hope that everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing summer and is anticipating the many exciting opportunities that this school year will present at Taos Middle School. Along with the rest of the Taos Middle School Staff, we are enthusiastically awaiting the start of the new school year and beginning our journey together.

Here at Taos Middle School we are committed to your child’s educational excellence, along with their social emotional well-being, which are promoted through a diverse curriculum, a dedicated and knowledgeable staff, and school/community partnerships. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math will remain a priority as well as providing a learning program that builds on prior knowledge to reach local, state, and common core standards. Collaboration, cooperation and open communication between home and school are keys to building a strong foundation for a successful school year. I encourage and invite parent and community involvement in an effort to build a positive and successful educational experience for each of your children. I invite parents, grandparents, and family members of the students to get involved in a positive way at Taos Middle School. This is a great way to meet the staff and other parents of students from the community. I look forward to a great school year together.

- Alfred Cordova

Taos Middle School Principal
