SUPERCOMPUTING CHALLENGE (SC)

The Supercomputing Challenge is unique to the state of New Mexico. The program encompasses the school year and is meant to teach teams of middle and high school students how to use computers to analyze, model and solve real world problems.

Teams choose the projects they wish to research, study and build a computation computer model, write and present a research paper and their model to Scientists and Engineers. Students learn how to code in a different computer programs including StarLogo and NetLogo. The teams receive support, advice and have mentors from the science, engineering and technological industries in New Mexico.

The Challenge is sponsored by the Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs, New Mexico Tech and New Mexico State University. It is also sponsored by the Santa Fe Institute, New Mexico Computer Science for All and the National Science Foundation. Cost is $40/student. For information: www.supercomputingchallenge.org
