GroupWise is an email system and makes a nice daily planner.

When you run the program for the first time, this window pops up.  If your computer is new to groupwise, you would see this window with the Address and Port fields empty.

Your username will be in the top field.  The password is blank.  There is no password on GroupWise unless you put one there.  It should be different than your login password.  This password is there if you wish to get GroupWise mail over the Internet from home.  You have to put in the password in the Security tool.  Go to Tools | Options.

The Address field is the IP for your school.

THS is 10.2.1.7                   ADM and Food warehouse are 10.1.1.7

RES is 10.6.1.7                    EGS and TES are 10.4.1.7

TMS is 10.1.2.7                   ANS is 10.7.1.7

The port is always 1677.

You only have to enter this once.

Now you see this window.

This is your mailbox.  Double click a message to read it.

Attachments will show up on the bottom.  These can be opened with a double click.  You can reply, forward or delete with the icons on the right.  Messages can be saved as text documents on your My Documents folder, if you wish.  Deleted messages will first go to the trash folder.  Right click on the word Trash to open a menu from which you can restore, or empty the trash.  Please delete messages that you do not need.  You can save important messages to your computer if you wish.

To create a new message to someone, click the 5th icon from the left in the main window.

Here is the send box.  Icons on the right allow you to send, cancel, attach a file.  In the To: field, just type the first few letters of the person's last name.  GroupWise fills in the rest.  You can use the up and down arrows to find the person you wish to send a message to.  Type a ; after a name to add additional recipients.  Hit TAB to move to the Subject field and again to your Message.

Files can be attached by clicking the paper clip icon.  This window appears.

This window opens which is your typical file finding window that comes up in your My Documents folder.  Find the file you wish to attach and click it once and then OK.  You can send multiple files.  This can be restricted if people begin to abuse it.

The Address book can help you find someone at a different school if you are not sure of their name or where they work.

It comes up like this.  Just click the first tab.

Here you see the entire school district.  I have put shown the list with the groups that are created in the system.  You can create your own personal groups as well.  Just drag the names of the people in your group to the box on the right.  When you have your whole group, click on Save Group.  Give the group a name.  It will show up in your list on Frequent Contacts or you can type the first few letters and it will pop in the To: field.

This should get you going on GroupWise.
