The Taos Municipal School Board was honored as an endorser of the Hispanic Education Act at an April 1 event in Albuquerque.

The board support­ed the act’s passage; a Latino/Hispano Education Improvement Task Force seeks to “eliminate the achievement gap” for Hispanic students.

Among the task force’s members are Taos school board members Lorraine Coca-Ruiz and Arsenio Còrdova.

Other endorsers of the act include Albuquerque Public Schools, Santa Fe Public Schools, Gallup Schools, the New Mexico Coalition for Charter Schools, the New Mexico School Board Association, the New Mexico Association of School Administrators, the National Education Association, the New Mexico chapter of American Federation of Teachers and the University of New Mexico.
