The mission of Health Services is to:

  • Support and promote the health and wellbeing of students with an emphasis on disease prevention and wellness, reduce absenteeism, increase involvement ands understanding of one’s own health care.

  • Support parent/guardian involvement and affirm respect for the value
    of individuals and their families in order to reach their full educational potential.

  • The Taos Municipal Schools Health Centers are available to provide health care and counseling services free of charge to all Students at the Taos Municipal Schools.

  • Student participation is voluntary.
     

PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING SERVICES FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF: 

  • Immunization surveillance and administration of the Tdap vaccine ( Tetanus, Diptheria and Acellular Pertussis) to students attending the middle and high schools. 

  • Flu vaccine administration to staff and students.

  • Health Screenings, Vision, hearing, heights, weights, ear, nose, throat, dental, heart/lungs and ocular health on students grades: kindergarten, first, third, eighth, and tenth.

  • Vision screenings on all students, kindergarten through fifth grades.

  • Injury and sick care, emergency care, and referrals

  • Collaboration with parents and physicians, School Based Health Center and other health care agencies.

  • Student Assistance Teams health screenings

  • IEP participation

  • 504 participation

  • Health Education: individual, class and community presentations.

  • Development of the health section for the Wellness Policy\

  • Participation and development of the schools’ safety plan
